About the Hall of Fame:
The Southeast Region of Babe Ruth League, Inc. has established a Hall of Fame to honor individuals and organizations within the Region who have played a vital role in the development of baseball and/or softball programs for youth 4 through 18 years of age.
Selection Committee:
The Southeast Region Commissioner shall appoint a Selection Committee composed of three individuals. The appointments to the committee shall be for a period not less than three years. The Southeast Region Commissioner reserves the right to extend the appointments as needed.
Criteria for Induction:
In order for an individual or organization to be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame, the following minimum requirements must be met and the application received not later than June 30:
1. A letter of recommendation explaining what the individual or organization has done for local youth sports, and Babe Ruth Baseball and/or Softball, specifically, and why the individual or organization should be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame. The letter must provide sufficient information including positions held (i.e., administrator, board member, commissioner, official, manager/coach, etc.) along with the term of each position held.
2. A minimum of two additional letters of recommendation from local community leaders, business people, clergy, etc. in support of the induction to the Hall of Fame. It is recommended, but not mandatory, that letters of support from local Babe Ruth District and State Commissioners accompany the above recommendations.
3. Prepare the Nomination Cover Form and mail with all documentation directly to the Southeast Region Commissioner (address on form) to be received not later than June 30.
Selection Committee Review Procedures:
1. The Hall of Fame Selection Committee shall review the nominations and then vote at a time and in a manner established by the Selection Committee Chairperson. A nominee must receive a majority vote from the committee in order to have the nomination continue through the process. Only the Selection Committee Chairperson will notify the Southeast Region Commissioner of the vote results. [Note: A nominee that does not receive the required vote will remain in the nomination process for three additional years. If not selected within this time period, the nominee must reapply as if a new candidate.]
2. Positive nominations will be submitted to the Southeast Region Commissioner who will forward to the Region’s State Commissioners for final vote. The results of this vote will determine the outcome of the nomination.
3. In all cases, the votes tallied by the Selection Committee and the State Commissioners will remain in strict confidence.
Notification of Inductee:
Only the Southeast Region Commissioner will notify the individual(s) or organization(s) of induction into the Hall of Fame. The inductees will be officially introduced and inducted annually at the Southeast Region fall meeting.
