Don Myers was appointed to the position of South Carolina
State Commissioner in June 2025. Don has been a member of Babe Ruth since 2004
(in the Middle Atlantic Region until 2020) and is celebrating his 35th year of
umpiring in 2025.
Don umpired his first World Series (Cal Ripken 12-Year-olds
Major60 Baseball) in Aberdeen, Maryland, in 2005. He was assigned to that
tournament again in 2006 and to the Cal Ripken 12-Year-olds Major70 Baseball
World Series in Aberdeen every year from 2007 through 2016. In 2017, the Cal
Ripken 12-Year-olds Major70 World Series was moved from Aberdeen to Branson,
Missouri, and he was selected to umpire there.
In 2019, Don worked the 10-Year-olds Baseball World Series in
Phenix City, Alabama. He returned to the Cal Ripken 12-Year-olds Major70 World
Series in Branson in 2022 and has been assigned to officiate each year since.
On a personal note, in 1976 Don earned the rank of Eagle
Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America (now Scouts
BSA) program. He is retired from Sherwin Williams where he was a lab technician
for 28 years and he also owned a landscaping company for 46 years.
Don and his wife, Pam, now live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
They have seven grandsons with granddaughters and great granddaughters on the
way.
